Raggle-Taggle Chicken

1. What is your description of what a raggle-taggle chook would look like? a injured chicken  

2. What was mum and dad's suggestion for the fate of the chook? chop off its head

3. What was the event that changed mum and dads mind about the chook? the eggs 

4. Mr Dick was the neighbour in the story. What was his reaction after the chook had scratched up the peas? he didn't mind because the chicken laid eggs for him

5. Identify the problem and resolution in this story? the chicken was scratching up the gardens but then he laid eggs for them.

6. Consider two other appropriate titles for this story other than Raggle-taggle Chook. taggle-raggle chicken, Chook Chook.

a brain, a heart, support and something to change 


2. What are some of the worlds problems/issues spoken of very early on in the speech?
the ocean is on fire, habitats  collapsing 


3. Service is one of the Badges in the Gold Awards and Honours Badges. What are some aspects of service you have heard other people being involved with in Ms Beaumont's presentations at assembly?

4. If young people are provided the tools and resources they can lead positive community change. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Why/why not i agree because children are just mini adults and can do the same things.


5. What are the current environment issues in Hawke's Bay you can think of?
the water has been contaminated, and habitats are collapsing 



6. "Instead of asking why, young people ask why not?" Can you think of a situation or scenario where this has been true for you?   when my mum tells me to clean and my sister says why and i say why not 


7. Empowerment is one of the biggest tools young people need. Explain what this concept means.
you need to have the power to do something and you need to be incharge of what you are doing.

Reading today


matt whittle is a man with a brain disorder and he wants to help others so he started selling things for cans of food instead of money he hasn't made a cent in his life! he goes to food banks  where he brings all the cans because he wanted to help out his community and he wanted to have a shop since he a little kid. some people thought it as a joke but he carried on helping his community!

1. What is one reason Matt Whittle is even more of an outstanding Good Sort than any other NZer who has been nominated? he has a brain disorder and he sells things for cans of food instead of money! 

2. Matt does not accept money like other second hand shops. Can you think of a reason why he might have chosen to do this?  because he wants to use cans to help out other people or animals 

3. How has his Dad been a big supporter of his work?  yes
